Chofan – Dominican Chinese Fried Rice
Chofan is a flavorful Dominican-style Chinese fried rice dish. It’s a stir-fried dish of cooked rice with various items like eggs, veggies, fish, or meat that’s frequently blended in a wok or frying pan. It is frequently consumed on its own or as a complement to another dish.
Chofan is also known by a number of other names. Arroz Chino, Chofan, or Chow Fan are all frequent names for this dish. Carrot, egg, peas, and bean are the main ingredients in this dish, which is usually eaten alone or with another dish such as chicken, pork, or even seafood. It is cooked in a wok with fat and at a high temperature, and the main ingredients are carrot, egg, peas, bean sprouts, chicken, pork, shrimp, etc. and seasoned with soy sauce.
To prepare Dominican fried rice chofan, follow these steps:
In a wok (or a large saucepan if you don’t have a wok), heat the oil over high heat. Cook, stirring periodically, for about 4 minutes after adding the ham. Stir in the carrots, then simmer for about 1 minute.
Stir in the onions and peppers for about 2 minutes. Combine the rice, peas, and corn in a large mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly until no clumps of rice remain. Mix in the soy sauce thoroughly.
Combine the cooked chicken, eggs, and green onions in a mixing bowl. Mix until everything is well blended. After that, turn off the heat and serve. Serve with green onions as a garnish.
Chofan is a simple meal that can be served hot or cold, making it ideal for any time of year. Furthermore, because of the number and variety of ingredients, it might be served as a single dish. Although, in my case, I always serve it as a side dish alongside some delectable spring rolls.
