- Place three pieces of pound cake side by side on plastic wrap and flatten with a rolling pin.
- Wrap the frozen ice cream ball completely in pound cake. Freeze for an hour or more, or until firm.
- Mix flour, egg, and water a bit at a time to make tempura batter.
- Preheat the oil to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
- Wrap the ice cream in tempura batter and fry it.
- Carefully lower the covered ice cream into the oil and cook for 15-30 seconds, or until golden brown. If you cook the ice cream for too long, it will melt.
- Wipe away any excess oil using a paper towel.
